On June 29, 2009, Governor Jim Doyle signed the WI State Budget Bill which will include these changes to auto insurance regulations that will affect all consumers in the state.
- Section 344.01increases the motor vehicle liability minimum limits
from $25,000/50,000/10,000 to $50,000/100,000/15,000.
- Uninsured & Underinsured motorist coverage limits have increased
to a minimum of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident.
- Medical payments coverage has increased to at least $10,000.
Insureds may reject medical payment coverage.
- No person may operate a motor vehicle unless the person has in his or her immediate possession proof of motor vehicle liability insurance
