  Wisconsin Auto Insurance Laws are changing November 2009
 

On June 29, 2009, Governor Jim Doyle signed the WI State Budget Bill which will include these changes to auto insurance regulations that will affect all consumers in the state.

 

  • Section 344.01increases the motor vehicle liability minimum limits from $25,000/50,000/10,000 to $50,000/100,000/15,000.
  • Uninsured & Underinsured motorist coverage limits have increased to a minimum of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident.
  • Medical payments coverage has increased to at least $10,000. Insureds may reject medical payment coverage.
  • No person may operate a motor vehicle unless the person has in his or her immediate possession proof of motor vehicle liability insurance
